Participation in Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
Haldimand FHT employees participate in HOOPP, a defined benefit pension plan that provides a monthly income that begins in retirement and is paid for the rest of your life.
HOOPP pension is based on a formula, not your contributions. When you retire, you’ll get more than you’ve contributed.
For every dollar you contribute, HFHT contributes $1.26.
Help protect your loved ones whether you pass away before or after retirement.
A HOOPP pension offers security, predictability, and peace of mind throughout your life and career.
If you move to another HOOPP employer, your pension can come with you.
If you take time off work and stop contributing to the Plan, purchasing past service can increase your pension’s value.
With HOOPP, you can retire as early as 55 and may be eligible for an additional bridge benefit until 65.
If you’re unable to work due to injury or illness, you may be eligible for disability benefits.
Your pension may receive cost of living increases.
Once you start receiving your pension, it continues for life.
